Surprise, surprise, more restraints on us, but not on likely terrorists. All this imposed on us because a man with a Muslim name, traveling with no passport, (who is banned in Great Britain), who had no bags and paid for a one way ticket with cash was not tagged as a possible terrorist. But that would by ethnic profiling, and that's not right because of political coersion, er, political correctness. It took a free wheeling flying Dutchman to put a flying headlock on the idiot to keep him from trying a second attempt to blow up a Northwest Airline flight.
Now, my family is partly of Dutch as well as German descent, but my one brother looks like an Iranian. The resemblance is so pronounced that every time he walks into an airport he sets off the same little admitted to but obvious reaction-"Iranian terrorist Alert! Iranian Terrorist Alert!"
He is used to the the whole process, and now usually travels by car. He is also a devout Christian. I asked him once what he would do if some guy on a flight stood up like Hasan and shouted "Allah akbar!" He said the guy would be dead or at least restrained, because my brother wanted to get back to his wife and children safely. So my plans to unmask him as the illigetimate son of the milkman and acquire his percentage of the family inheritence has been dashed and he is, after all, a Deutsche and Dutchman like myself. Damn, foiled again.
So, as you can see, even my family would not be overtly incumbered by ethnic profiling, because my brother is used to it. It's the type of inconvenience even my devout brother can tolerate. So anyone like the Northwest bomber, Shoe Bomber Reed, the Flying Imans or even Major Terrorist Hasan would not be any more inconvenienced than my brother. This will only happen if the government actually emphasised real law enforcement with greater ethnic profiling and less of the idiocy of political correctness's denial of reality.
I can imagine the Obama adminstration's new terrorist rules and pronouncements. "Oh, no, we are not looking for those who might actually commit terrorism because of their Muslim names, dress, odd behavior. If they look like, act like and proclaim themselves as terrorists doesn't mean they are terrorists! Perish the thought! We would never assume such profiling of their terrorist demeanor and overt acts on that flight last month when the crew refused to continue on with the flight after those men refused to end their cell calls and the one insulted that racist flight attendant. The crew members were just being racists. We would never profile the Muslim men's behavior as terrorism, because terrorists, like Leftitist, are always the exception to all draconian new restrictions we will now empose on the racist majority of Americans."
Instead of randomly frisking elderly Catholic nuns and lax Amish airplane travelers, we will do a much better job of enforcing the law and protecting the general public and may actually discourage terrorism with real law enforcement procedures, including profiling.
The reality under the Abomination administration is as followed: more terrorism and hamfisted oppression of the ordinary, law abiding traveler and more exceptions for obvious terrorist threats. The budding jihadists should never be inconvenienced by or insulted by reasonable law enforcement efforts because, well, we might insult the little cretins. How about a flying Dutch headlock?
