The Tea Parties are a grass-roots movement in this country and a cross segment of most of our society. Has Corthell ever been to a Tea Party rally or looked at the great variety of people at the rallies on T.V.? I doubt it. I was at my second Tea Party in Pittsburgh on Thursday. There were blacks and whites present, rich and poor, old and young. This year's rally had speakers, both black and white, rich and middle class. Glenn Meakem, an entrepeneur, spoke, as well as an electrician and a minister. Where were all the privileged people?
Meakem paid for his right to speak there as a self-made man who founded a company that now employs over a 1,000 people. That's a 1,000 more than Obama has created in the private section. Granted, he is a conservative leader and a local talk show host, but he worked for his soap box. The rest of us were regular working people who had enough with taxes and the arrogance of our unrepresentative members of Congress and the White House. We are not privileged, we are the people. So, shouldn't Corthell not court a hell of a reaction and just attend a Tea Party and meet a cross section of America?
P.S.: More on the Tea Party in downtown Pittsburgh later and some limited media coverage.
