But as a possible tax cheat, Rangel may still have access to the Ways & Means Committee, after the current hoopla blows over. What is the possiblitiy of this outcome? Let us look at the record.
1) A tax cheat is now in charge of the IRS and enforcing tax law against the rest of us.
2) The Attorney General's office under Mr. Holder has refused to pursue the prosecution of the New Black Panther Party in a clear case of voter intimidation.
3) Sen. Ted Kennedy causes the death of a young women in 1967 and goes on to serve in the Senate for more than forty years.
4) ACORN has just been found by a Brooklyn judge not to have violated any laws in the videotaped counseling of real investigative reporters of the New Press posing as a procurer (a pander) and his prostitute in the proper running of a prostitution ring. Is the august judge then affirming the old liberal mantra: "Laws? We don't need no stinking laws!"
5) Democrat Rep. Murtha has just been found blameless by a Congressional committe ("Laws? We don't need no stinking laws!") blameless concerning bribery charges brought against him. Part of their reasoning was simple, Murtha couldn't remember who contributed money to him. Senility is no excuse for finding him blameless. He was also never held accountable for his groundless charges against his fellow Marines in Iraq.
Rangel might be off the range for the moment, but he can still wrangle his way out of the charges, as long as he and the other liberal Democrat politicians in Congress have the ways and the means and are in power. That is, until November and only if we don't listen to the Main Line Media.
