Plant This in the Seat of Your Consciousness

There is something abhorrent to me to find out today is not only the PA Primaries but also Earth Day.  Both are supposed to be observed by the general public, but only acted upon by a small minority of that public.  The difference is the Pennsylvania Primary is a necessary part of the election process and Earth Day is a propaganda ploy redesigned over time to promote a lie.

The first Earth Day was created partly to promote Global Cooling, a liberal hysteria of the time.  By the late Seventies the news media were stating that the average, annual temperatures during the last ice age were only a few degrees cooler than they were at that time.

Times change.  The news media found they could not scare the general public with the effects of possible Global Cooling because of the general warming trends in the weather (caused, of course, by the increased solar activity of the sun).  So the media switched.

I remember the news item on the CBS Evening News back around 1980 which helped to instigate the change in the designated boogie man of the left to Global Warming.  It was the featured, lead story of the night, a moment to shift the paradigm of propaganda.  The most salient point made in the report was, with a few degrees increase in annual, average temperatures, the Great Plains of the American Midwest would turn to deserts and the steppes of the Soviet Union would then become the bread basket of the world.  It contradicted articles like "The Cooling World" by Peter Gwynne in the April 28, 1975 edition of Newsweek on Global Cooling.

I knew, that night, this new, equally baseless assumption would be blamed on mankind.  It would also give hope to the hopeless and provide a new belief system to those who believe in nothing, while possibly saving communism from its own ineptitude and the disaster of collectivist farming in the Soviet Union.  Collectivist farming caused real, man made famines, resulting in the death by starvation of over 20,000,000 people after it was forced on the Soviets by Stalin through government edict starting in 1928.

We've had to put up with the same bull, different package, ever since.  Compare the predictions cited in "The Cooling World" and the present hysteria.  "The Cooling World" also predicted possible famines, which never occurred.  The premises are polar opposites, a half a degree decrease in the Northern Hemisphere between 1945 and 1968 and a half a degree increase cited by Al Gore and others in the more recent past, bringing us back to around the temperature levels of 1940 as cited by Denis Dutton's intro to the article from www.denisdutton.com.  If both premises are in fact accurate, aren't we actually suffering from Global Homeostasis (not the new gathering mantra of Climate Change) where overall temperatures really haven't changed, based on a longer time line?  But that would take away the news media's obsession of the moment.

P.S. Check out Denis Dutton's new website Climate Debate Daily for more information and expamples of the news media's predictions, going back to the New York Times warning of a possible new ice age in 1895.
